Pour-Over Coffee Preparation is the idea of preparing your cup of coffee by pouring hot water on ground coffee placed on a filter whether its a metal filter or a paper filter. Or Even via legacy way of American coffee machine preparation 🙂

Pressure Enforcement Preparation

In Simple words, this is the Italian school to prepare coffee drinks through enforcing boiled water through fine ground coffee.

Since we mentioned fine ground coffee, This enforcement can only be done by exerting high pressure either via manual ways which is rarely used by coffee geeks or via the common way which is by using a machine that contains a heat exchanger or boiler and pump to produce this pressure and force the boiled water through the fine ground coffee present in a shot and placed in a handle called “porta-filter”

This process produces a small amount of coffee drink , commonly called as “Espresso Shot” which varies from 30 – 45 mL. This shot is a highly concentrated dose of coffee, people either consume it directly or add water or milk to complement the flavor and form one of the common coffee drinks below

  • Regular Espresso (without any additions)
  • Cappuccino
  • Latte
  • Americano
  • Espresso Macchiato
  • Cortado

Boiling Preparation

In this method, coffee cup is prepared by grinding coffee beans to a fine ground and boil it with water, its usually more fine than the espresso ground.

Historically, its been commonly the primary coffee preparation method by the Ottoman empire since 1540 and now its been widely referred to as “Turkish Coffee”

Its also been commonly consumed in Greece and referred to as Greek Coffee, while in the middle east, its referred to as Turkish Coffee as well

Tools used in this preparation are quite simple, you’ll need a 30 – 60 ml coffee pot, usually referred to as “turkish coffee pot”
